This privacy policy explains how Property Index Ireland collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit our website or sign up to our waitlist. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to being transparent about how we handle your information. This policy applies to the pre-launch waitlist phase of the platform only and will be updated when the full platform launches.
1. Who we are
Property Index Ireland is an independent rental transparency platform currently in pre-launch development, operated by its founder and based in Dublin, Ireland.

Property Index Ireland is in the process of being incorporated as a Private Limited Company in Ireland. Until registration is complete, the platform is operated by the founding individual. This policy will be updated to reflect the registered company details upon incorporation.
2. What data we collect
During the pre-launch waitlist phase, we collect the following personal data when you sign up:
- Your email address — so we can notify you when the platform launches
- Your interest category (e.g. current tenant, recent tenant, researcher, journalist) — so we can understand who is interested in the platform and communicate more relevantly. This field is optional.
We also collect standard technical data automatically when you visit our website:
- Pages visited and time spent on site (via Google Analytics — anonymised)
- General location at country or city level — not precise location data
- Device type and browser
We do not collect: your name, phone number, address, payment details, or any sensitive personal data at this stage. We do not sell your data to any third party.
3. How we obtain your consent
We collect your email address only with your explicit, informed consent. When you sign up via our website, you are presented with a consent modal before any data is submitted. This modal:
- Clearly states what your email address will be used for
- Requires you to actively tick a checkbox confirming your consent
- Cannot be bypassed — the confirm button remains disabled until the checkbox is ticked
- Links to this privacy policy so you can read it before consenting
Your consent is recorded at the point of submission. You may withdraw consent at any time — see your rights in section 6 below.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR — freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous consent. You are never automatically signed up or added to a list without an affirmative action on your part.
4. Why we use your data
We use your email address and interest category only for the following purposes, consistent with what you consented to:
- To send you a confirmation that your signup was received
- To notify you when Property Index Ireland launches
- To send occasional significant updates about the platform — no more than once a month
- To understand who is interested in the platform so we can develop it appropriately
We will not use your email address to contact you about anything unrelated to Property Index Ireland, and we will not use it for advertising or marketing purposes beyond what is described above.
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use our website. This data is anonymised and aggregated and helps us improve the platform before launch.
5. How we store your data and who processes it
Your email address and interest category are stored securely in MailerLite, our email service provider. MailerLite acts as a data processor on our behalf — they process your data only under our instructions and do not use it for their own purposes. MailerLite is GDPR compliant. Their privacy policy is available at mailerlite.com/legal.
Website analytics data is collected and stored by Google Analytics. We have configured Google Analytics with privacy-friendly settings — data sharing with Google is disabled and we do not use advertising or remarketing features.
Our website is hosted by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare does not store personal data submitted through our forms. Their privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Data location: MailerLite stores data within the European Economic Area or with appropriate safeguards where data is processed outside the EEA. Google Analytics data may be transferred to the United States — Google participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
6. How long we keep your data
We will keep your email address on our waitlist until one of the following happens:
- You unsubscribe — which you can do at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send
- You request deletion — see section 7 below
- The platform launches and you choose not to engage with it — we will delete inactive waitlist data within 12 months of the platform launch date
We will not retain your data longer than is necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
7. Your rights under GDPR
As a data subject under GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to the personal data we hold about you:
- Right to access — you can ask us what data we hold about you and receive a copy of it
- Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data we hold
- Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete all personal data we hold about you at any time, without giving a reason
- Right to withdraw consent — you can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Right to restriction — you can ask us to restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances
- Right to data portability — you can ask us to provide your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format
- Right to object — you can object to us processing your data at any time

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC) — Ireland's supervisory authority for GDPR. The DPC can be contacted at dataprotection.ie.
8. Cookies
Our website uses cookies for the following purposes only:
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics uses cookies to help us understand how people use our site. These cookies do not identify you personally and the data is anonymised before we see it.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, social media cookies, or any cookies that share your data with third parties for commercial purposes.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies may affect how some parts of our website function.
9. Third-party services we use
We use the following third-party services to operate our platform. Each acts as a data processor under appropriate agreements:
- MailerLite — email service provider. Stores your email address and interest category on our behalf. GDPR compliant. mailerlite.com
- Google Analytics — website analytics. Receives anonymised, aggregated usage data only. analytics.google.com
- Cloudflare Pages — website hosting. Does not store form submission data. cloudflare.com
We do not sell, rent, transfer, or share your personal data with any other third parties for marketing, commercial, or any other purposes.
10. Children
Property Index Ireland is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a person under 16, please contact us at hello@propertyindexireland.ie and we will delete it immediately.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time as the platform develops, particularly when we move from pre-launch to full launch. We will notify waitlist subscribers of any significant changes by email before they take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last updated.
This policy will be substantially updated prior to the public launch of the full platform to cover report submission data, scoring data, and all other data processing activities of the live platform.
